2nd Grade

In 2nd grade, students build strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. Using the California Common Core State Standards, students strengthen reading fluency and comprehension, write organized stories, opinions, and informational pieces, and develop math skills in place value, addition and subtraction, measurement, time, money, shapes, and problem-solving. Students also explore science and their community while developing communication, collaboration, independence, and goal-setting skills. Throughout the year, students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, persevere through challenges, and celebrate their growth as learners.
