3rd Grade
In 3rd grade, students take their learning to the next level by becoming stronger readers, writers, mathematicians, and problem-solvers. Using the California Common Core State Standards, students read and analyze grade-level literature and informational texts, identify main ideas and key details, use evidence to explain their thinking, and write informative, opinion, and narrative pieces. In math, students build understanding of multiplication and division, fractions, place value, measurement, and area while solving real-world problems. Students also explore science and social studies while developing critical thinking, collaboration, independence, and communication skills. Throughout the year, students are encouraged to set goals, persevere through challenges, and take ownership of their learning.
