Fit to Play Program - NURSE

Ranchito became a Fit to Play Program Pilot School in the 2015-2016 school year.
The emphasis of this program is to train staff, parents, and students in following good nutrition habits and exercise.
District Nursing staff provided parent training on nutrition facts and healthy exercise routines.
Staff and students were also provided with training sessions and lessons on the above.

In order to continue teaching students about good nutrition habits and making healthy choices, Kaiser
Permanente offered a great assembly to our fourth and fifth-grade students in February. They received a free water container to promote drinking water on a daily basis.

Dignity Health and the YMCA partnered together to promote healthy habits to families. They are providing nutrition, health check-ups, and zumba classes for parents.

Ranchito staff provides ongoing nutrition lessons and teaches 100 minutes of physical education on a weekly basis to all TK- 5 grade students. Students are provided a healthy breakfast and lunch on a daily basis and a healthy snack if they participate in the after-school program. We strongly discourage students from bringing junk food to school especially hot cheetos, chips, soda, candy, gatorade, and sugar drinks.
We thank parents in advance for making sure that students bring healthy foods to school and promote healthy choices.
