A school- based speech therapist supports the educational program for students who have a disorder in communication involving speech articulation, language (not due to second language acquisition), fluency (stuttering) and/ or voice issues. These students may be eligible for the LAS (Language and Speech) program if their difficulties are moderate to severe and are impacting their ability to access their academics. I also may see students in a “Speech Improvement Class. This class is for students with mild LAS issues that do not require an IEP.
